A Term in Paris

Every girl carries a light. The bravest thing is to carry it somewhere new.

The whole of Emily’s year is crossing the sea.

At the Institut Sainte-Colombe, on the banks of the Seine, the girls of St Elowen’s are the new girls all over again: strangers in someone else’s beloved school, where nothing is theirs and nobody speaks their language. And in the school’s oldest register, beside the name of their own Foundress, there is a second name that nobody has spoken aloud for a hundred and sixty years.

A promise was made here once, between two schoolgirls. It was never finished.

Emily is going to finish it.

Book Two.
